Ultrasound scanning is suitable for the investigation of many difficult cases:
- Unexplained weight loss
- Chronic vomiting and diarrhoea
- Suspected pancreatitis
- Tumour staging
- Porto systemic shunts
Margaret uses the latest technology in ultrasound, MyLab30VetGold, with full colour Doppler and ultrasound probes suitable for the smallest to the largest patients:
- 3 phased array probes 2.5 - 10 MHz
- 4-8 MHz microvonvex probe
- 10-18 MHz linear probe
- Colour and power Doppler and tissue harmonic imaging
Indications for abdominal ultrasound:
- Acute collapse
- Anaemia
- Ascites
- Chronic diarrhoea
- Chronic vomiting
- Diaphragmatic rupture
- Geriatric check
- Haematuria/dysuria/stranguria/cystitis
- Hepatic disease
- Hypercalcemia
- Jaundice
- Kidney disease
- Metastatic disease check
- Palpation of mass
- Pancreatic disease
- Peripheral lymphadenopathy/Suspect lymphoma
- Polydipsia/polyuria
- Portosystemic shunt investigation
- Prostatic and testicular disease
- Pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO)
- Significant abnormal blood results
- Suspect PSS
- Vague malaise
- Weight loss
